Travel Update for the February 1 Big GameAirfares for Big Game XLIII between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Arizona Cardinals are bouncing around more than an onside kick. A check this morning found that the cheapest published round-trip airfare from Phoenix to Tampa, departing on Saturday, January 31 and returning Monday, February 2, was $739. Using those same dates, the cheapest displayed round-trip airfare from Pittsburgh to Tampa was $410. What a difference a day makes. Priceline's airline ticketing service recommended staying an extra day or two to trim the ticket prices. And did it ever. By leaving on the 31st and returning on February 3rd (after most of the crowds are gone, by the way), the round-trip Phoenix airfare was cut almost in half, to $373. Stay one more day and leave on the 4th, the airfare drops again to $320. Priceline's automated system that looks for cheaper alternate travel dates produced significant savings for Pittsburgh as well. The fare for a January 31 - February 2 trip was $410. Bumping the return back to February 3 reduced the fare to $288. And, for a trip coming back February 4, the airfare was $210. Those airfare savings can even pay for your hotel room. Once the crowds check out on the 2nd, priceline.com customers using priceline.com's Name Your Own Price hotel service should be successful with bids as low as $35 a night for a 2-star hotel in the Tampa Airport zone, $69 a night for a 3.5 star hotel in the airport zone, or $45 a night for a 2.5 star hotel in the Tampa East/Fairgrounds area. Bids do not include taxes and fees and availability and prices can change at any time. Bottom line, why not stick around and enjoy what Florida's West Coast has to offer. Visit Busch Gardens, drive over to the Orlando theme parks, go deep sea fishing in the Gulf or take in a round of golf. Vis i sammenheng »
