Incredible hotel deals in New York City

Here’s a can’t-miss travel tip from The Travel Ekspert. Around this time of year in New York City, sold-out hotels and pricey rooms are as traditional as street-corner Santas and skating in Rockefeller Center.

Not this year. Plenty of rooms are available at rates that haven’t been seen in many years. The Travel Ekspert paid a visit to Tim Gordon, who is priceline.com’s head of hotel services, who confirmed the eye-popping deals. Turns out that a combo of fewer European visitors and holiday party cutbacks by corporations (notably the financial players) has created a buyers’ market for hotel rooms at one of the absolute best times of the year to be in Manhattan.

How good are the deals? You won’t believe it. The deals are so good, they were written up in USA Today

Click here to see Priceline's Winning Bids map, which lets you see winning bids for hotel rooms in cities around the country.  Here are some examples of successful Name Your Own Price offers made by priceline.com customers for New York City hotels.

Midtown West                                      4 star hotels starting from $150
Times Square, Theater District              3 star hotels starting from $225
Midtown East                                       4 star hotels starting from $225
Downtown/Soho                                  4 star hotels starting from $225

What are you waiting for? Plan a holiday shopping spree. Take in a Broadway show. See the tree and go skating in Rockefeller Center. Watch the holiday show at Radio City. Check out the restaurants. And, for that once-in-a-lifetime experience, book a Manhattan hotel room for New Years Eve.
